Memories Come From Perfect Moments

In Britain the dating game is not for the faint hearted, and those who dip their toes into these uncertain waters do so because they are sure the quest for the perfect moment is a worthwhile one. Manchester represents all that people love about city life; lots of people, cool bars, hectic nightlife and the possibilities that these combinations can bring. Another weekend brings with it the tantalising prospect of a chance encounter or a social connection to remember. The dating scene is varied and complex, as people try to match their date’s personality against their own personal expectations and see how they measure up. A tad shallow perhaps, but a sin common to us all no doubt. Emails or texts earlier in the week lead inevitably to the main event on the weekend - all that ensues on the date will be considered in detail during the proceeding week, before committing to a follow up encounter. It’s a process that can be sweet or sour, but you can only truly appreciate the sweet when you have tasted the sour. Many will also give a decent amount of thought to the politics of the dating game: what to say, when to say it, what to wear or not wear, how much information to offer and how much to withhold for later, the list goes on. You play by the rules until you are comfortable enough with that person to discard those rules. You know it’s never like it is in the movies but you want it to be all the same; there’s a bit of romance in everybody and what a dull world it would be without a little romance. As the weekend approaches, your thoughts drift towards the things that could make this the perfect date. The venue, the movie, the club, the actions and conversation all have to be just right for things to fall nicely into place. When they do fall into place, the occasion will be etched in the memory forever. Dating in Manchester, as it is anywhere, is all about chasing a moment instead of simply waiting for it to magically appear. You make your own luck and perfect dates are experienced by those willing to take a risk every now and then. You know you have been on a perfect date when you catch yourself smiling out the window during the Monday morning commute to work. The cramped carriage and thoughts of work are less troubling and, as you slip on your ipod, you find yourself irresistibly drawn to the section containing the romantic songs! This time you actually understand the lyrics and a previously annoying love song now broadens your smile. Only the perfect date has the power to do this.

Isla Campbell writes on a number of topics on behalf of a digital marketing agency and a variety of clients.
