Picking the Perfect Venue for a Date

More and more people are going online to find new friends and possible romances than ever before. When you live somewhere as busy as London you are always surrounded by people but ironically it can still be hard to meet someone. Nights out are expensive and if you go to a pub or club there is never any guarantee that you will meet someone you like. It's not surprising then that so many people are relying on the internet to break down those first few barriers and break the ice at the same time. The one thing you still need to think about however - apart from the common sense safety aspects involved with meeting someone new - is where you will meet up when you decide to take things to the next step and actually get together for a date. Luckily there are plenty of great places to choose from in London. By the time you get to the stage of wanting to meet someone in the flesh you should know enough about them to suggest some good ideas for something to do. What you decide upon may depend on the time of day you are meeting up with the person. For example, an afternoon date on a Saturday may be very different from an evening date on a Friday. If you are meeting in the evening then a nice meal or a more casual visit to the pub is a good idea. You might want to steer clear of the cinema though since this doesn't give you much opportunity for talking! One of the best things about meeting people online is that you have a chance to get to know them reasonably well before you decide to meet up. This makes it much easier to send messages or emails back and forth suggesting ideas. If you both like getting out and about and seeing a different side to the city, why not think about doing a river cruise along the Thames or walking along its banks before taking a ride on the Millennium Wheel? Even if you opt to go for a meal you don't have to stick with the same venues you've tried in the past. If you are both quite adventurous you could try one of the many 'one off' restaurants that lay hidden all around the capital's streets; a quick search online should reveal some good possibilities. The main thing to remember is that your date should be fun. There will always be other people to give you suggestions but you should always go for something that you will both enjoy, and if it makes you relaxed then you are more likely to have a good time on that all important first date. Dating in London gives you so many opportunities that it's easy to get overwhelmed. But with a little forward planning and some thought you can find the perfect destination for you both.

Isla Campbell writes on a number of topics on behalf of a digital marketing agency and a variety of clients.
